Commercializing High Risk Medical Devices
Live Event in New York
Live Workshop and Fireside Chat (Monday 08/26)
Dear Subscribers,
I’m reaching out with a very brief email to share that I’ll be hosting a live workshop and fireside chat in New York next week (Monday 08/26).
I’ll share the story behind our successful commercialization of a high-risk medical device and answer questions from attendees as part of this interactive forum.
If you’re in New York and would like to join this exciting discussion, please use the link below. If you’re not in the area but know someone who might be interested, please share this email with them.
There is no NYU affiliation required and the event is free to attend.
Date & Time: Monday 26 August: 18:30 - 20:30
Event Details:
The path to commercializing high risk medical devices from concept to exit is often poorly understood. I’ll be sharing our experience live in New York.
Moderated by Vadim Gordin and NYU Tandon Future Labs, join this fireside chat to hear how we commercialised an obstetric medical device used in a high-risk setting (emergency cesarean sections) from an initial concept to expansion across multiple international markets.
Our successful commercialisation efforts over 10 years (3 years in the US) led to our company being acquired by a leader in the field, CooperSurgical.
I’ll share how and why my father Rajiv Varma (an OBGYN) invented a critical innovation in his field of obstetrics (inspired by a high-risk and complicated birth).
I’ll discuss how we expanded into multiple international markets and why the US quickly became our most important territory.
I’ll touch on how we navigated the sales cycle for a high risk medical device, one where we couldn’t support live cases, due to its use in an emergency setting.
I’ll also provide some insights into our journey from commercialisation to exit and the key value drivers behind our company sale - including intellectual property, clinical data, hospital adoption, and our distribution strategy.
If you’re unable to attend the event, I’ll summarise this discussion in the August publication of my OBG Access Newsletter.
If you’re in NY and interested in attending the fireside chat, sign up using the link here.
Any questions, please do let me know.
Have a great upcoming weekend!
Best regards,
Nish
